St Andrews Taxis has been in continuous operation ever since, growing into a trusted local company with a prized reputation among local residents, university students, hoteliers, wedding organisers, golf tour operators and, of course, the tens of thousands of tourists and golfers who flock to the area each year.

It has been much imitated by rivals would-be taxi operators – look out for fly-by-night companies with a similar name – but its service and reputation remain unequalled.

For a period, St Andrews Taxis was run by a Central Fife businessman, Mark Anderson, who built the firm up to become St Andrews’ leading provider of luxury vehicles for hire, with uniformed drivers, leather interiors and privacy glass in high-specification Skoda Superb Estates.

In 2021 James Glen and Linda Holt were delighted to bring St Andrews Taxis back home to North East Fife. Linda and James had already set up the iconic Big Yellow Taxi Company in the East Neuk of Fife and were delighted when the opportunity arose to take over St Andrews’ premier taxi firm.

St Andrews Taxis is family-run, with Linda and James hands-on in its daily operations. We are supported by a loyal crew of professional drivers who have been carefully vetted. With 40% of our staff are female, we employ more women, more drivers than any other operator in Fife, and a number of our drivers are university graduates, so well able to cater to the needs of staff, students and visitors to the University.
