When The Open comes to St Andrews in 2027, the town gets busy. Very busy.

Hotels fill months in advance, restaurants become harder to book and demand for taxis and private transfers rises dramatically, particularly for Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport transfers, early morning journeys and larger groups.

If you’re planning a trip for The Open, transport is one part of the itinerary that’s worth arranging sooner rather than later.

Why book early?

During a normal summer week there is plenty of demand for taxis around St Andrews. During The Open, thousands of additional visitors arrive while the number of licensed vehicles available remains limited.

Leaving transport until you arrive can therefore mean limited availability, particularly at peak times or when several major flights arrive together.
